Job Title: Mental Health Therapist

Department: Mental Health Services

The Mental Health Therapist will provide high-quality assessment and brief counselling services to individuals with significant mental health needs. The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with multiple service providers to meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor services to meet the needs of individuals with significant mental health needs
  • Provide high-quality assessment and brief counselling services using short-term solution-focused and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy therapeutic models
  • Participate in the education of staff, students, and the larger community
  • Work cooperatively in a team setting and demonstrate excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Adhere to Brightshores' CARE Behaviours and LEAD Competencies

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Social Work or a related field
  • Membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
  • Minimum 5 years recent experience working with individuals with significant mental health needs
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Recovery Principles
  • Excellent assessment and treatment skills utilizing modalities of individual and group therapies
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and familiarity with DSM-V
  • Training and experience in Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Group therapy
  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to work all shifts
