We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Operator II to join our team at ATCO Electric. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our electrical systems and contracted assets within the Alberta Interconnected Electrical System (AIES).
Key Responsibilities- Operate and Monitor Electrical Systems: Coordinate operations with other entities, plan and perform switching activities for maintenance, construction, commissioning, and restoration.
- SCADA System Operation: Operate ATCO Electric's SCADA system according to compliance regulations and standards.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Maintain compliance with all AESO Rules, Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS), and NERC Standards. Complete risk assessments prior to, during, and after system switching.
- Technical Guidance and Training: Provide technical guidance to less experienced operators and participate in the System Operator Training Program.
- Communication and Collaboration: Coordinate planned outages with company facilities and third-party entities for construction, maintenance, and commissioning activities.
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years related experience in the operation of electrical systems.
- Certifications: Certification as a Journeyman Powerline Technician, Power Systems Electrician, Industrial Electrician, or a Technology Diploma in a related electrical field. NERC Transmission Operator Certification.
