Park Planning and Design Manager

The British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects is seeking a highly skilled Park Planning and Design Manager to lead the planning and design of the City's parks and urban places. This is a key role that requires a strong understanding of government administration, program planning, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Long-Range Planning: Lead the City's planning of an integrated system of parks and urban places, including the development of the Official Community Plan and Area Structure Plans.
  • Partnerships and Engagement: Engage with stakeholders, the community, private sector, and senior levels of government to implement park delivery strategies, including negotiating Partnership Agreements and facilitating public engagement initiatives.
  • Park and Urban Spaces Design: Manage the design program for parks and urban spaces, including preparing conceptual designs and creating delivery strategies for infrastructure projects.
  • Capital Plan Management: Develop and manage the 10-year capital plan for parks, waterfront, public art, and urban public spaces, including long-range financial planning and budgeting.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in landscape architecture, with a strong understanding of landscape construction methods and principles.
  • Effective project management skills, including the ability to lead a team and manage complex planning projects.
  • Strong knowledge of government administration, program planning, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate and persuade stakeholders.
