Position Overview

The University of Victoria, a prominent employer in Victoria and recognized for its commitment to diversity, is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Coordinator, Student Development. This position plays a crucial role in fostering the academic and personal growth of students residing on campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate, and execute a variety of programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing the academic and personal development of student residents.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Education and Training to align co-curricular programming with the strategic objectives of the Residence Services unit.
  • Oversee the Residence Resource HUB, a central facility for programming activities, ensuring it meets the needs of both residents and staff.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Program Resource Centre Advisors (PRCAs) and provide guidance to various community leaders and volunteers.
  • Facilitate partnerships with campus and community stakeholders to enrich programming and support services.
  • Organize large-scale events and recognition activities for Residence Services, promoting community engagement and student involvement.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree and at least three years of relevant experience in program development and event management within a higher education context.
  • Proven track record in organizing successful programs and events.
  • Strong understanding of student development theories and their practical application.
  • Experience in budget creation and management.
  • Supervisory experience and the ability to lead a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on collaboration.
  • A valid Class Five Driver's license.

Work Environment

This role may require evening and weekend work to accommodate programming needs. The Coordinator will be expected to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
