Accounts Payable Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team at Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited. As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will be responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payment documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify purchase orders are charged to the correct accounts and prepare audit documents for Accounts Payable.
- Collect invoices from all departments and obtain necessary approvals.
- Prepare payments to third parties and ensure timely delivery, managing ad hoc cheque runs.
- Maintain and assist with the preparation of the general ledger.
- Reconcile company invoice records and payments with vendors' statements.
- Prepare batches of invoices for processing and balancing.
- Preserve and organize vendor information files.
- Process period-end closing reports and prepare reconciliation reports as requested.
Requirements
- One year of experience in a similar role within an accounting department and/or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Post-secondary education in accounting or business administration preferred.
- Experience with Great Plains preferred.
- General knowledge of Accounts Payable theories, practices, legislation, and resources.
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of spreadsheets, data-based software, email, and web browsers with a diverse customer group.
- Strong verbal, written communication, and ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
