The District of West Vancouver's Engineering Department is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill a temporary full-time position as an Engineering Assistant I. This exciting opportunity is ideal for an engineering student looking to gain hands-on experience in a municipal environment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct site inspections to identify infrastructure works and document findings.
- Collect and analyze data for roads, bike lanes, sidewalks, and multi-use pathways.
- Prepare information for responses to resident inquiries, requests, and complaints.
- Assist with the preparation of construction notices and street occupancy permits.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
- Enrolled in an Applied Science program at UBC or an equivalent program at another educational institution.
- Able to perform a 4 or 8-month work term.
- Demonstrated knowledge of civil engineering projects and construction methodology.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia.
- Access to a personal vehicle for commuting to work and site visits.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD is considered an asset.
- A competitive hourly rate of $26.87 per hour (2022 rates) plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
- A temporary full-time position with a 35-hour workweek.
