Job Title: Senior Backend Developer, Contractor

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer, Contractor to join our team. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing our back-end code for critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop scalable and efficient back-end systems using Python, Flask, JavaScript, NodeJS, MySQL, DynamoDB, and MongoDB.
  • Support and automate existing software systems to improve performance and reduce manual processes.
  • Build data integrations with third-party APIs and our core systems to enhance data exchange and analysis.
  • Collaborate with our team to define, design, and promote new features that meet business requirements.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of our services to meet customer expectations.
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs to maintain system stability.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with AWS micro-services such as CDK, Lambda, IAM, DynamoDB, API Gateway, VPC, EC2, RDS, and Code Pipeline.
  • Proficiency in programming and automation scripting using Python, JavaScript, or other languages.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems.
  • Experience with source control tools such as GIT and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience implementing and integrating with RESTful web services.
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as C++, C#, and AngularJS.
  • Deadline-oriented with the ability to effectively manage multiple work assignments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, technical and otherwise.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of media and newsroom workflows.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming and task scheduling.
