Job Title: Intermediate Environmental Scientist

Vertex is seeking a highly skilled Intermediate Environmental Scientist to join our team. As an Environmental Scientist, you will be responsible for managing and executing upstream oil and gas and industrial projects in accordance with Vertex guidelines and project scopes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and execute environmental projects, including reclamation and remediation, in accordance with Vertex guidelines and project scopes.
  • Develop and implement work plans and cost estimates for environmental projects.
  • Conduct site assessments and monitoring programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise light-duty reclamation work and ensure effective project execution.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to deliver cost-effective solutions that meet regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or higher education in environmental sciences, biology, or a related field.
  • Professional designation or in-training designation applicable for conducting professional sign-off in Alberta.
  • Minimum 3-7 years of environmental work experience, including Phase I and II program execution, remediation, reclamation, groundwater monitoring, spill response, and detailed site assessments.
  • Project management experience, including cost estimates, scheduling, budget tracking, and client interactions.
  • Experience in executing upstream environmental assessment, remediation, and reclamation projects.
  • Excellent communication and technical reporting skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
