Job Summary:
As an Event Host with Vail Resorts, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the daily operations of our on-mountain athletic events. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the smooth execution of events from setup to teardown, while maintaining a high level of guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strive to exceed guest expectations by providing exceptional service and creating memorable experiences.
- Stay up-to-date with all event information and serve as a Whistler/Blackcomb ambassador at all times, both on and off the job.
- Assist in the training and guidance of volunteer crew, setting an example of professionalism and teamwork.
- Contribute to event venue construction, including building scaffolding, installing fences, tents, banners, cabling, and other necessary equipment.
- Maintain attention to detail regarding event safety, ensuring the ongoing maintenance of event venues as required.
- Assume various roles during events, such as assistant timer, starter, Chief of Gates, and finish referee.
- Ensure the responsible use and proper storage of timing equipment, fencing, banners, shovels, and other event materials.
- Report any damages to event equipment or required repairs to the supervisor or lead hand immediately, taking corrective action as necessary.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safe access to equipment storage areas, both in the valley and on the mountain.
- Assist in the transportation of event equipment, either by hand or by loading transportation vehicles/systems.
- Develop functional job skills in at least one area within the department.
- Be responsible for mountain radio and drill/batteries/drill bit, issued at the start of the season.
- Be prepared to assist in other departments as needed, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and adaptability.
- Demonstrate core values: Safety First, Striving to be the best, and showing that we care.
- Adhere to the grooming policy and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
Requirements:
- A resume is required.
- Must have an outgoing, friendly personality and a commitment to exceeding guest expectations.
- Must be a hardworking, team player.
- Able to work extended hours outside in an alpine mountain environment with variable weather conditions, including snow, wind, cold, and sun, for 8+ hours/day.
- Able to work holidays, weekends, and evenings as necessary.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs while skiing competently on difficult terrain.
- Ability to work with power tools (cordless drills, saws, etc.).
- Computer experience is an asset, with an aptitude for numbers preferred.
- Level I race officials certification is an asset.
- Any other event experiences are an asset.
- Proof of a clear criminal record check.
