About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join our Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) team in Canada. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing and developing software solutions that drive innovation and excellence in our global fulfillment network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new software services and tools from scratch, improving existing systems to meet the evolving needs of our business.
  • Create simple yet effective solutions for complex business and operational problems, leveraging your expertise in software development and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, physical processes, and operations teams to optimize systems and processes, ensuring seamless integration and maximum efficiency.
  • Design and implement scalable solutions to solve complex problems, driving business growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Learn and adapt to build robust solutions that operate at Amazon scale, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends.
  • Have the opportunity to design systems, take mission-critical decisions on technology selection, and solve complex problems, working closely with senior technical leaders.
  • Operate in a dynamic, interconnected team of engineers, building solutions that impact Amazon's customers worldwide.
  • Receive guidance and feedback from senior technical leaders, refining your designs and solutions to meet the highest standards.
A Day in the Life

As a Software Development Engineer at Amazon, you will be part of a fast-paced, innovative environment that drives continuous learning and self-development. You will face new technical and operational challenges daily, with the support of your teammates and the opportunity to explore ideas and propose projects.

You will work closely with product specialists and subject-matter experts from various domains to identify and propose solutions, leveraging your expertise in software development and problem-solving.

About the Team

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon's global fulfillment network, inventing and delivering software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world to provide Amazon customers with seamless, on-demand access to products.

AFT's Quality team drives automation programs that leverage computer vision, machine learning, and other innovative technologies to prevent, detect, and correct potential inventory issues, ensuring fulfillment efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
