Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Maintenance Engineering Operations Manager for our pharmaceutical production facility. The ideal candidate will spearhead exemplary site Engineering and Maintenance Services to enhance the availability and dependability of both process and utility equipment. You will oversee a team of direct reports and external contractors, ensuring optimal maintenance performance through our Maintenance Excellence Framework (MEF).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the engineering team in advancing the Maintenance Excellence Framework (MEF) to fully embed reliability and maintenance excellence into the organizational culture.
  • Achieve superior maintenance of manufacturing, utilities, and facility equipment through strategic management and execution of the MEF.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and enhance MEF key performance indicators (KPIs) such as asset utilization, maintenance expenditures, compliance with maintenance schedules, and adherence to timelines.
  • Elevate the performance of maintenance operations for manufacturing, utilities, facilities, and related equipment by implementing a reliability-centered asset care program.
  • Develop and apply effective maintenance and reliability strategies for engineering systems, including Life and Process Safety systems, Electrical & Instrumentation, ATEX systems, and Mechanical integrity.
  • Foster a proactive team environment capable of anticipating and addressing challenges promptly and effectively.
  • Boost team morale through regular one-on-one discussions, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Instill a Safety Culture by ensuring compliance with safety standards and safe working practices.
  • Negotiate cost-effective external contracts and ensure efficient management and oversight of on-site contractors.
  • Manage relevant budgets to meet financial targets.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Site Lead and Senior Leadership Team to support the establishment of strategic and functional objectives, timelines, and schedules for various initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Membership in a relevant engineering institution would be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 9 years of experience, including 5+ years as an Engineer and at least 4 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Prior experience in Manufacturing, Facilities/Utilities maintenance, or project management, particularly in Black and Clean utilities, steam, HVAC, purified water, clean air, and wastewater treatment within the pharmaceutical or medical device sectors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of 5S, TPM, SMED, and other lean/six sigma/continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, coupled with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage, guide, and mentor teams effectively.
