About the Role:
GFL Environmental is seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to join our Production team in a Hamilton facility. As a leader in innovative and sustainable waste management services, we're committed to shaping a greener, smarter, and healthier industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the shift operation, ensuring productivity and adherence to product quality requirements and customer specifications.
- Operate equipment, machinery, and accessories through process control systems.
- Conduct inspection rounds to ensure equipment is working properly and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage shift manpower needs to maintain productivity, quality control, and meet shift requirements.
- Ensure all safety concerns and accidents are investigated promptly and environmental policies and procedures are understood.
- Perform shift routine walks to ensure production and quality-related activities are running smoothly.
- Apply disciplines to shift employees as deemed necessary and report on team's shift activities and observations.
- Work rotating shifts and overtime as needed, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on production machinery, collect data, and maintain records daily.
- Responsible for Shift workers to perform a variety of manual tasks in varying temperatures for extended periods of time.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 diploma, post-secondary education beneficial in a technical field.
- Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental training.
- Supervisory experience in a busy manufacturing environment.
- Supervisory Course or equivalent course or proven work experience.
- Working knowledge of the latest edition of ISO/IATF procedures.
- Previous experience as Shift Supervisor in a manufacturing plant.
- Previous experience to operate computerized control panel/Human Machine Interface (HMI) to monitor the process.
- Good troubleshooting skills when mechanical issues arise.
- Operational experience in the industrial recycling industry (an asset).
- Self-motivated, hard worker, adaptable, and team player with a commitment to working safely.
- Forklift certificate considered an asset.
