Are you ready to thrive in this dynamic and evolving industry? Whether in front of the camera, on air, online, or behind the scenes, you will be part of a team dedicated to making connections and sharing stories that matter to Canadians.

Your Role:

This technician will primarily be engaged in the Media Presentation Control at the Broadcast Centre. The main responsibility will be to manage the playback of digital, radio, and television signals through an automated system for the Canadian audience.

Based on established protocols, you will execute tasks necessary for the effective and precise presentation of digital, radio, or television content for programs or events. Creative problem-solving may be essential during presentations. While work is generally performed according to recognized CBC or industry standards, independent judgment and initiative are also required to address operational challenges. In situations where directions or requirements are unclear, you will need to seek clarification or apply independent judgment under tight deadlines. Any signal issues or discrepancies must be reported promptly to the appropriate authority.

  • Advise partners on technical operational needs and requirements related to equipment and facilities.
  • Perform, in whole or in part, the functions or duties of an equivalent or lower classification.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work various shifts in an on-site 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays.
  • General knowledge of digital streaming, radio, and television production, delivery, and presentation methods, typically acquired through college studies or equivalent relevant experience in broadcasting.

  • Knowledge of Avid, Dalet+, iNews applications, and Windows OS.
  • Ability to program complex automated presentation systems.
  • Good understanding of TV and radio control rooms is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of communication networks and audio connections.
  • Capacity to work independently.
  • High availability and accountability for the seamless presentation of programs.
  • Demonstrated creativity in rapidly finding solutions.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining a positive, professional demeanor.
  • Quickly and effectively respond to challenges in the work environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Adept at analyzing situations and making decisions efficiently and effectively.
  • Proactive and initiative-driven.
  • Strong concentration skills, particularly during program presentations.
  • Positive attitude towards co-workers; team player.
