The Event Conversion Manager is tasked with overseeing the transition of events, which includes meticulous planning, coordination, and supervision of all conversion activities. This role involves assisting in the recruitment process and providing training for new personnel. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the Operations Manager and Event Coordinator on various projects.
About the Venue
The Ovintiv Events Centre, managed by the Oak View Group, stands as the leading venue for a diverse array of sports and entertainment events in the Alberta and British Columbia Peace Region.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee event transitions, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and execution of all conversion tasks.
- Support the hiring process and conduct training for new team members.
- Perform maintenance tasks related to the facility.
- Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of conversion equipment and areas.
- Assist the Operations Manager and Event Coordinator with various projects.
- Comply with all established Policies and Procedures.
- Execute duties safely, adhering to Facility Procedures and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act among staff.
- Assist in all aspects of event coordination.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of facility supplies and manage orders as needed.
- Monitor tasks and delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Foster harmonious communication and collaboration with all departments.
- Contribute to the daily operations and maintenance of the arena, including HVAC, sound, lighting, and safety systems.
- Maintain the arena ice surface and related systems, ensuring excellent conditions for events.
- Set up and troubleshoot audio-visual equipment for smaller events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in facility setups and transitions for various events.
- Familiarity with operational equipment such as staging, audiovisual, lighting, and small tools.
- Experience supervising a team of up to 25 employees in setup and maintenance tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities, with attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple tasks.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Proficient in computer use and ability to learn various software applications.
- Physical capability to walk for extended periods.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Certification in BC Refrigeration Safety Awareness and willingness to obtain an Ice Facility Operator ticket within one year.
- WHMIS certification within three months of employment.
- First Aid certification, with CPR and AED training within three months of employment.
- Forklift, fall arrest, and aerial boom certifications within three months of employment.
- Confined space certification within three months of employment.
- Completion of a criminal record check.
- Crowd management certification within three months of employment.
- Ability to train staff in the use of power tools.
- Experience with ice resurfacing equipment and maintenance.
- Knowledge of audio-visual equipment setup and operation.
- Basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills relevant to facility maintenance.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Work Environment:
