Who are we seeking?

Our Tunnel Group is in search of a Senior Tunnel Engineer to enhance our team. This position will support project initiatives within GHD's Rail and Transportation sector and contribute to various tunneling endeavors both nationally and internationally.

In the realm of problem-solving, a relentless curiosity is essential for driving community transformation.

Collaborating with a dynamic and high-achieving team, this role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, including:

Demonstrating leadership in the development and execution of projects that maximize GHD's engagement through multi-disciplinary collaboration, enhancing client experiences. Addressing technical and administrative aspects related to the development of subway tunnels and water infrastructure projects. Collaborating effectively with our Joint Venture partners and clients. Preparing comprehensive design reports and construction documentation. Coordinating with various disciplines, professionals, clients, and external parties as necessary. Drafting PSOS specifications. Managing soft ground tunneling ancillary tasks, including ground treatment, dewatering, and ground freezing. Preparing GBRs, reviewing GDRs, and planning geotechnical investigations for tunnel and underground structures. Analyzing tunneling-induced settlement and assessing potential impacts on adjacent infrastructure.

What you will contribute to the team:

A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering. A Master's degree in Tunnel or Geotechnical Engineering is advantageous. Chartered status is required or progress towards it. Proven experience in technical leadership and management of tunnel engineering and transportation or rail projects. A minimum of 15 years of experience, with at least 10 years focused on tunnel and underground projects. Demonstrated ability to lead tunnel design and supervision teams for significant interdisciplinary tunneling projects. Experience with various tunnel project types, including bored and NATM methodologies. Expertise in designing large-diameter tunnels in soft ground (6m +). Proficiency in deep shaft and shoring design. Experience in rail transit tunnel and station design. Practical experience with analytical and numerical analysis methods, including tunnel, precast concrete segmental tunnel linings, and shaft design. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork capabilities.
