Head of Mathematics Department
As a Mathematics Remediation Specialist for Middle and Senior School, you will be instrumental in enhancing the critical and creative thinking skills of students in mathematics. Your role will involve:
- Engaging in continuous professional development to enhance your expertise in remedial mathematics.
- Collaborating with mathematics educators to assist students facing difficulties with mathematical concepts.
- Working closely with the Head of Mathematics Department to ensure excellence in math remediation across the institution, with a focus on improving students' numeracy and fluency skills.
- Contributing to the creation and upkeep of a comprehensive curriculum that targets skill development in numeracy and fluency.
- Providing tutoring for small groups in high school mathematics (grades 11/12).
- Assisting educators in implementing assessment tools and identifying foundational skills of students.
- Critically evaluating student learning profiles and advising teachers on effective strategies for supporting students struggling with mathematics.
- Thriving in a collaborative, adaptable, and supportive team environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics.
- BC Teacher Certification (Teachers Regulation Branch) in the form of a Certificate of Qualification (CoQ) or Independent School Teaching Certificate (ISTC).
- Experience working with learners in mathematics.
- Experience in independent school settings is advantageous.
