Instrumentation & Controls Program Lead

Firebag Technical Solutions is a professional consulting engineering firm that provides project planning, engineering design, and project management services to the oil and gas industry. Our team of experts specializes in conventional oil and gas projects, heavy oil (SAGD, CSS) processing, and enhanced oil recovery projects.
Main Duties and CompetenciesThe Instrumentation & Controls Program Lead will provide guidance and coaching to the program team. Key duties include:
- Leading a team of I&C engineers and designers for sustainable programs or multiple projects
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to intermediate and junior engineers
- Reviewing client scope documents and providing detailed I&C man-hour estimations
- Coordinating with project management teams to align I&C activities with project schedules and client expectations
- Reviewing and checking I&C deliverables, including datasheets, sizing calculations, and control drawings
- Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates for I&C bids and proposal work
- Providing I&C inputs to detailed scope of work, design basis documents, and project execution plans
- Representing the I&C team to clients and ensuring meeting client expectations
- Steering review sessions for I&C deliverables with project stakeholders
The ideal candidate will have:
- Ten or more years of experience in instrumentation and controls in the oil and gas industry
- CET or P. Eng. certification
- Leadership experience in instrumentation and controls
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies
- Capability to provide engineering estimates
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment
