About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Climate Risk Management Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in assessing and mitigating climate-related risks within the Canadian housing sector. You will leverage your expertise to develop strategies and policies that promote resilience and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of climate-related risks facing the Canadian housing market.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate these risks, considering both physical and transition risks.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of climate risk management.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in climate risk management within the financial sector.
- Contribute to the development of policies and regulations that address climate-related challenges in the housing industry.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of climate science, key concepts related to climate risk (e.g., physical and transition risks), and their implications for the building and housing sectors.
- Knowledge of the Canadian housing system, including financing, residential development, risk mitigation and transfer tools, and the roles that governments play, including CMHC.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
