We are seeking a reliable, organized, and efficient individual with experience in utilizing chemical cleaning agents. Alberta Health Services invites you to become a part of our Environmental Services team as a Cleaner/Housekeeper. In this role, you will contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere for staff, volunteers, patients, and their families, while ensuring a safe environment through thorough disinfection and cleaning practices. Your efforts will positively impact the experiences of everyone within our facilities.
The Environmental Services II - Cleaner/Housekeeper is responsible for executing a variety of cleaning tasks across clinical and non-clinical settings, which include treatment areas, staff zones, and communal spaces. This position also involves undertaking specialized and deep cleaning assignments, as well as operating industrial-grade cleaning equipment. As an Environmental II, your responsibilities will encompass a range of intensive or specialized cleaning duties within a healthcare facility, utilizing industrial cleaning supplies and powered equipment. Typical tasks may include:
- Operating industrial cleaning machinery for floor maintenance.
- Conducting thorough cleaning of ceilings and windows.
- Managing hazardous waste disposal.
- Providing training and orientation for new Environmental staff.
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent education.
- Proficient in computer usage, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks throughout your shift.
- Physically capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling weights up to 30 lbs.
- Basic understanding of computer programs, including email.
- Must possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and follow both written and oral instructions in English.
- Dependability, thoroughness, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are essential.
- A combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
- All new hires will be required to complete a 4-day Environmental Services Orientation and a 1-day AHS Orientation.
