Job Overview:

The Environmental Services II - Cleaner/Housekeeper is responsible for executing a variety of cleaning tasks across clinical and non-clinical settings, which include treatment areas, staff zones, and communal spaces. This position also involves undertaking specialized and deep cleaning assignments, as well as operating industrial-grade cleaning equipment. Join a dedicated team of over 6,000 Environmental Service professionals committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment at Alberta Health Services.

As an Environmental II, your responsibilities will encompass a range of intensive or specialized cleaning duties within a healthcare facility, utilizing industrial cleaning supplies and powered equipment. Typical tasks may include:

  1. Operating industrial cleaning machinery for floor maintenance.
  2. Conducting thorough cleaning of ceilings and windows.
  3. Managing hazardous waste disposal.
  4. Providing training and orientation for new Environmental staff.
Essential Qualifications:
  1. Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent education.
  2. Proficient in computer usage, including Microsoft Office applications.
  3. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks throughout your shift.
  4. Physically capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling weights up to 30 lbs.
Additional Required Qualifications:
  1. Basic understanding of computer programs, including email.
  2. Must possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and follow both written and oral instructions in English.
  3. Dependability, thoroughness, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are essential.
  4. A combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
  5. All new hires will be required to complete a 4-day Environmental Services Orientation and a 1-day AHS Orientation.
