Nichols Environmental (Canada) Ltd. is a leading geo-environmental consulting and remediation firm seeking a highly skilled Reclamation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting detailed site evaluations, developing comprehensive reclamation plans, and overseeing the execution of reclamation projects.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and detailed site assessments (DSAs) to identify environmental impacts and determine the extent of contamination or land degradation.
- Develop and implement reclamation plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and cost estimates, ensuring alignment with environmental standards and regulations.
- Oversee the execution of reclamation projects, including soil remediation and reclamation, water treatment, vegetation restoration, and habitat reconstruction.
- Establish and maintain monitoring programs to track the progress and effectiveness of reclamation efforts.
- Ensure all reclamation activities comply with provincial regulations and policies.
- Prepare detailed reports on project progress, environmental impacts, and compliance status for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- 10+ years of experience in environmental site assessments, reclamation certification applications, and reporting.
- Experience in land conservation, reclamation, and remediation in Alberta and Saskatchewan is required.
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental, Natural or Soil Sciences or Technical Diploma in an Environmental discipline.
- Regulatory criteria and guidelines within Alberta and Saskatchewan, wetland assessments, soil classification and description.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities.
- Professional status or eligibility for professional status with APEGA, AIA, ASET, or ASPB.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex environmental challenges.
- Ability to travel throughout western Canada and be out of town as needed.
- Ability to work in the field as needed throughout the year in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Must be able to bend, climb stairs, and continuously stand or walk 50% of the time.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
