Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience
  • Current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN.
  • For positions supporting NSWOC nurses, candidates must have graduated from an accredited nursing program and possess Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence, or have completed the International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Program or hold a Master's in Wound Healing.
  • Completion of post-secondary courses in Adult Education, Process Improvement, and/or Change Management.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of direct experience in adult education, quality enhancement, and/or policy and procedural development.
  • Experience collaborating with Indigenous communities and promoting Indigenous relations with an emphasis on Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, and standards governing programs.
  • Understanding of current, evidence-based issues and standards in gerontology.
  • Possession of a valid BC Driver's License.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor staff and colleagues.
  • Capacity to work autonomously.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and instructional skills.
  • Proficient in communicating with clients, their families, physicians, and colleagues within Island Health as well as with external organizations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
