Position Overview:

The WRHA Community Health Services is in search of a dedicated Families First Home Visitor. This role is pivotal in offering assistance to families who qualify for the Families First initiative. The primary objective is to foster a nurturing environment for the parent-child dynamic through home-centered services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trust and rapport with families, ensuring a supportive atmosphere.
  • Observe and document interactions to inform collaborative efforts with Public Health Nurses.
  • Facilitate the development of secure attachments between parents and children.
  • Guide parents in enhancing their child's growth and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Engage effectively with diverse populations and communicate with various stakeholders.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of experience working with families who have children aged 0-5 years.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Completion of designated training within six months of starting the position.
  • Preferred: Certification in a relevant educational field.

Licensure and Certification:

  • A valid driver's license may be necessary.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in basic computer operations and knowledgeable about early childhood development.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and effective time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit.

Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting and transporting equipment.
  • Access to a vehicle may be necessary.
