We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to join our SADV Department, contributing to our mission of serving the community with Compassion, Integrity, Respect, and Collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will fulfill the responsibilities associated with the role of a Registered Nurse within the SADV Department.
The S.A./D.V. Program of Dufferin-Caledon offers immediate care to individuals affected by sexual assault or domestic violence, available 24/7.
The Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Nurse is a specially-trained Registered Nurse who provides urgent medical care, crisis intervention, injury documentation, preventive medications, forensic evidence collection, safety planning, and follow-up support for victims/survivors, adhering to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Required Qualifications:
Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario CPR certification or equivalent Minimum of three years of nursing experience, with proven skills in physical assessment and trauma care Completion of a physical assessment course Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively Strong communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in computer use is an asset Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members Interest in supporting victims of violence; must complete required training and participate in ongoing development Crisis intervention training is preferred Demonstrated empathy, reliability, and advocacy for victims of violence Availability for on-call shifts, with a minimum commitment of ten (10) shifts per month Willingness to commit to the program for a minimum of two years Opportunities for continued education in Forensic Nursing and SANE certification Acceptable performance and attendance records
