Clinical Externship

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Clinical Extern to join our team at Headwaters Health Care Centre. As a Clinical Extern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.

The Clinical Extern will work under the supervision of a regulated healthcare provider to provide support with patient care, including lifting, turning, transferring, transporting, and ambulating. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring skin integrity and reducing pressure injuries, as well as assisting with comfort measures and patient safety.

• Provide support with patient care, including lifting, turning, transferring, transporting, and ambulating.
• Ensure skin integrity and reduce pressure injuries.
• Assist with comfort measures and patient safety.
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.
• Develop critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.

• Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing and entering into final years of a Practical Nursing (in year 2 and 3) or BScN (in year 2-4) nursing program.
• Paramedic students in second year of an approved Paramedic Program.
• Respiratory Therapy students in their second or third year of a training program accreditation by the Council on Accreditation of Respiratory Therapy Education, which is administered by the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists.
• Demonstrated evidence of excellent academic standing.
• Current BCLS required.
• Well-developed critical thinking and organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize and take initiative.
• Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to work all shifts as necessary.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
