Job Summary

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Instructor/Guard to join our team at Harbour Pool. As a dynamic individual, you will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing safety of our patrons and providing professional instruction in a variety of aquatic activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain minimum qualifications, including Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor and National Lifeguard certifications.
  • Pool Operators, LSI, Lifesaving Society Trainer, and First Aid/AEC Instructor certifications are considered assets.
  • Lifeguard, instruct, and perform maintenance tasks as required.
  • Prevent injuries by providing public education, enforcing safety rules and regulations, and responding appropriately in the event of an emergency.
  • Ensure the aquatics center is clean and safe by completing required maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain a positive work attitude, creating a professional and positive image when dealing with the public.
  • Ability to organize, set priorities, and complete multiple tasks while being adaptable to last-minute changes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to team members and patrons.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions throughout the year.
  • Assist with various other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Availability to work varying morning, mid-day, evening, and weekend shifts between 5:30 a.m. and 10:45 p.m.
  • Preference given to candidates with two or more years of Instructor/Guard experience.
Working Conditions

This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement. A Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check will be required upon hire.

Compensation

Additional qualifications may increase the salary range. Hours of work: 30 hours per week, seasonal shift rotation.
