The Westin Toronto Airport is seeking a Junior Culinary Supervisor with strong culinary skills and experience in food preparation. This role is perfect for someone dedicated to managing a food and beverage outlet, a shift, or a section of F&B operations. Key responsibilities include overseeing kitchen personnel and entry-level culinary staff in food preparation, presentation, and garnishing. Additionally, supporting the Sous Chef and Executive Chef in menu planning, development, and cost management is essential. Join us and play a crucial role in creating a welcoming, intuitive, and rejuvenating experience for our guests.
Responsibilities- Oversee kitchen operations, establish goals, and assign work schedules. Enforce policies and procedures.
- Provide input on staffing decisions and assist in staff training and development.
- Collaborate in generating new menu concepts, test and price menu items, and maintain accurate recipes and costing. Monitor food preparation techniques, portion sizes, and timeliness.
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness, adhere to storage protocols and health regulations. Manage temperature logs according to standards.
- Review menus, place food orders, and manage inventory. Supervise kitchen operations in the absence of senior chefs.
- Implement procedures for food and beverage storage, inventory, and cost control. Assist in food preparation when necessary.
- Encourage teamwork and service quality through consistent communication with other departments. Assist in banquets and special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
- High school diploma with two years of chef/cook experience or equivalent. Culinary arts degree preferred.
- Friendly and customer-oriented.
- Detail-focused.
- Able to work in high-pressure environments, lift items, remain stationary, move around the kitchen, and handle various tasks.
