Position Overview

As a Lead Backend Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in the creation and management of a suite of backend applications designed to handle vast quantities of legal documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceive, design, execute, deploy, and maintain a cohesive set of backend systems.
  • Engage actively in all phases of the software development lifecycle, encompassing analysis, design, implementation, CI/CD, DevOps deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Champion process enhancements to foster improved outcomes within the team.
  • Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with product goals and customer requirements.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and market shifts to adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Guide and collaborate with team members to achieve objectives with minimal oversight.
  • Provide assistance to client applications and users interfacing with the backend systems.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate for the Lead Backend Software Engineer position will possess:

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years in software development, hosting, and maintenance.
  • Experience with ML Ops, including the hosting, monitoring, and maintenance of AI/ML models in cloud environments.
  • Proficient in designing and implementing distributed systems utilizing cloud services.
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining applications on Azure cloud services.
  • Hands-on expertise in Rust, Python, and SQL/Relational Databases.
  • Previous experience in leading engineering teams, whether formally or informally.
  • A solid grasp of the software development lifecycle, unit testing, quality assurance practices, and incident management protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to mentor peers and influence team practices.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and creativity.
  • Capability to work autonomously or collaboratively to achieve diverse objectives.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with additional programming languages, technologies, and cloud service providers.
  • Knowledge of the legal sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
