Job Description

The Town of Claresholm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Corporate Services. This is a senior management position that reports directly to the Town's Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Operations Management: Oversee the Town's financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Human Resources Management: Manage the Town's Human Resources department, including recruitment, employee relations, and benefits administration.
  • Grant Management: Research, apply for, and administer grants to support the Town's strategic objectives.
  • Loan and Investment Management: Manage the Town's loans and investments, ensuring optimal returns and minimizing risk.
  • Policy Implementation: Implement the Town's policies, plans, and objectives, ensuring alignment with municipal legislation and regulations.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise and mentor staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of tasks and projects.
Requirements
  • Professional Qualifications: Professional accounting designation (CA, CPQ) or equivalent education and relevant work experience.
  • Management Experience: Extensive management experience in human resources, with a minimum of 5 years of experience and 3 years in administrative management.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Sound knowledge of provincial and municipal legislation, accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning processes, asset management, financial reporting, and forecasting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with Council, staff, and ratepayers.
  • Personal Qualities: High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. Effective coaching and mentoring skills, with the ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
