Position Summary:

We are in search of an Internal Investigator to join our team. This pivotal role is essential in maintaining the integrity and reputation of our organization by executing comprehensive and impartial investigations into potential misconduct, compliance breaches, and ethical dilemmas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute investigations to identify misconduct, fraud, conflicts of interest, and other breaches of company policies or legal standards.
  • Gather and scrutinize evidence, financial documents, emails, and other pertinent information to substantiate investigations.
  • Uphold the integrity of investigations by managing sensitive information and ensuring confidentiality throughout the process.
  • Draft detailed reports that outline findings, conclusions, and recommendations for necessary actions.
  • Assist in the development and review of policies and procedures relevant to investigations, current legislation, and internal disciplinary measures.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships within the organization to promote open communication and collaborative problem-solving, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, industry standards, and best practices pertaining to corporate investigations and compliance.
  • Provide direct investigative support to all Cooke and affiliate businesses, aiming to minimize losses and effectively defend against legal actions related to investigations and employee disciplinary measures.
  • Establish effective communication channels with local and federal law enforcement agencies that address financial and economic crimes.
  • Testify at hearings as required.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of auditing principles, practices, and methodologies, with 5-10+ years of experience in auditing and investigative roles.
  • Proven expertise in leading complex and sensitive investigations.
  • Strong analytical abilities to gather, interpret, and evaluate information effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interviewing witnesses, writing clear reports, and presenting findings to management.
  • Robust technical and computer skills.
  • Familiarity with provincial and federal laws, as well as standard practices of law enforcement agencies.
  • Ability to maintain objectivity, integrity, and confidentiality throughout the investigative process.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
  • Innovative mindset.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary and on short notice.
  • Exemplary personal integrity and professional demeanor.
