About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in the Nova Scotia Health Authority, working under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. This position involves collaborating with clients, caregivers, and families to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain optimal levels of function in areas such as self-care, productivity, and leisure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services while working within the hospital, client's home, and/or community.
  • Establish individualized treatment plans and goals in collaboration with clients.
  • Independently manage a busy caseload and utilize clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis.
  • Develop and implement education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff.
  • Contribute to the clinical education of occupational therapy students and related health disciplines, as well as supervise occupational therapy assistants.
  • Adhere to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures, as well as professional standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia.
About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff.
  • A commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising.
  • The ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility.
  • The ability to work alone or with team members in all service settings.
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.
Hours

This is a casual relief position, requiring flexibility in scheduling.
