We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a leader in the development of public sector accounting standards. As a key member of our technical staff team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of global public sector accounting.

About the Role

As a leader within the technical staff team of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining public sector financial and sustainability reporting standards. You will work closely with experienced volunteer board members from around the world to identify and diagnose complex problems and develop global, public interest-orientated solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop standards and guidance that are clear and concise and that adhere to internal protocols.
  2. Lead presentations of agenda papers at public IPSASB meetings and other forums as appropriate and participate in discussions and working groups.
  3. Steer projects through the steps required to gain global confidence in the quality of outputs, including discussions of the IPSASB, IPSASB Consultative Advisory Group, National Public Sector Standard Setters, and the Public Interest Committee.
  4. Work as a member of the staff leadership team to support volunteers in a dynamic, collaborative, multi-cultural, and collegial environment.
  5. Engage with stakeholders such as governments, regulators, standard setters, accountancy firms, governance groups, and professional accountancy organizations around the world, as appropriate.
  6. Serve as a key contact for one or more of the Board's liaison and outreach activities with key stakeholder groups.
  7. Manage staff team members, including coaching and development.
Requirements
  1. Knowledge of issues relating to technical accounting and/or sustainability reporting.
  2. Direct experience in standard-setting or public sector accounting/financial management/sustainable development experience is required, including the preparation of public sector financial reports or the audit of public sector entities.
  3. Knowledge of either IPSAS or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) is desirable.
  4. Sustainability reporting experience is highly desirable.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential – knowledge of another language is desirable.
  6. Excellent technical and project management skills and strong computer literacy are required.
  7. Experience leading complex projects, including managing and collaborating with others to meet project goals and deadlines.
  8. At a minimum, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting or other relevant field.
  9. 5 years of directly related work experience and 10+ years of professional experience.
  10. Professional accounting designation, or other relevant professional certification desirable.
