Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Emergency Management Specialist to join our team at Calian Group Ltd. as an Emergency Preparedness Analyst. This is a key technical role in the performance of projects within the Calian Nuclear division, specifically with our Emergency Preparedness team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Exercise Planning and Support

Support the planning process for large-scale emergency exercises by writing realistic injects to support the exercise scenario.

Stakeholder Presentations

Provide presentations to stakeholders throughout the exercise design process.

Scientific and Technical Project Work

Support scientific and technical project work for Calian Nuclear's clients.

Document Development

Support the development of high-quality technical reports and documents.

Project Support

Provide support to Project Managers as required, including reporting to clients, reviewing the work of project team members and subcontractors, and supervising project team members.

Quality Management

Ensure all project deliverables are developed and maintained in accordance with the Calian Nuclear Quality Management System (QMS).

Technical Analysis

Participate, as part of a project team, in conducting technical analyses.

Requirements
  1. Education

A degree in Emergency Management, Engineering, or Science, with a specialization in Physics, Nuclear, Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, or Mathematical streams (or another relevant discipline).

Experience

3-5+ years experience within Emergency Management/Preparedness or Disaster Management role.

Skills and Abilities

Specifically must have experience involving the development of Emergency Response plans and Procedures.

Industry Experience

Emergency Preparedness experience within the Nuclear industry will be considered a strong asset.

Communication and Teamwork

Ability to think independently and provide insight and solutions to complex problems.

Technical Skills

Strong communication skills are a must have for this role; the ability to present and/or facilitate to large groups will be required as well as being able to write technical reports and summaries.

Adaptability

Ability to adapt to changing project and client requirements.

Teamwork

Team player, able to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team.

Software Proficiency

Must be very proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Additional Requirements
  1. Security Clearance

Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Canadian Government Security Clearance at the Secret level (please review eligibility requirements before applying).

Travel Requirements

Travel requirements are 0-20% based on facilitation and training requirements with different projects.
