POSITION TITLE: Laboratory Support I (General)
WORK SCHEDULE: Regular Part-Time (Shifts: days, evenings, nights, 7 days/week coverage, subject to change)

ORGANIZATION: Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance

POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the guidance of the Charge Technologists, the Laboratory Support I (General) will assist in various functions throughout the Stratford Laboratory. Key areas of involvement include Core Lab, Histology, and Microbiology. Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Patient registration
  • Media inoculation
  • Inventory management of IHLP supplies
  • Histology slide labeling and distribution
  • Filing and disposal of tissue samples

REPORTING STRUCTURE: Reports to the Manager, Laboratory (HPHA)

COMPENSATION: Competitive hourly wage

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician
- Completion of an accredited MLA training program and successful passing of the CSMLS or MLPAO MLA examination

EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred recent experience in a comparable environment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledgeable in microbiology setup
- Proficient in phlebotomy techniques
- Experienced in various specimen collection methods
- Computer literate
- Organized and self-motivated
- Ability to work effectively under supervision and collaboratively with others
- Strong communication skills.
