Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Analyst to join our team at the City of Kitchener. As a key member of our Financial Operations division, you will be responsible for providing analysis and support for payroll-related accounts and expenditures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reconcile payroll accounts, including banked overtime, payroll accruals, and government remittances.
  • Reconcile subsystems on a regular basis from PeopleSoft payroll to SAP general ledger, monitoring for errors and preparing entries to rectify differences.
  • Assist with year-end functions, including OMERS reporting, T4 reporting, and sick/vacation balance issues.
  • Provide analysis of payroll benefit costs by pay groups, including Fire, hourly, salary, and union groups.
  • Assist with research of accounting treatment and legislative requirements for payroll-related items.
  • Provide functional support and testing for system updates and upgrades.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Accounting diploma/degree (3 year).
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
  • Over one year full-cycle payroll experience and year-end reporting.
  • Experience working with large ERP systems, preferably PeopleSoft, SuccessFactors, and SAP.
  • Sound understanding of payroll legislation and union contracts.
  • Experience in accounting with account reconciliation, billings, and analysis.
  • Highly developed computer skills, particularly in the use of advanced spreadsheets, word processing, database, and report writer.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
