Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Manager to lead our Horizon Program for Geriatric Psychiatry at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and direction to inter-professional program staff, promoting quality and safe patient care and rehabilitation practices.
  • Promote positive work environments by role modeling professional behavior, promoting teamwork and inter-professional collaboration, and addressing workplace conflict.
  • Directly manage the work assignments and scheduling for regulated and unregulated staff in a 24-hour operation.
  • Coordinate and manage inter-professional staff allocations, ensuring optimum utilization based on monitoring and interpretation of workload measurement, RAI, and SMART System data.
  • Engage in recruitment and retention efforts, manage performance, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Manage the overall program/unit budget and Direct Operating Expenditures (DOE).
  • Liaise with internal programs/departments and external community partners, participate in hospital committees, and collaborate with the Program Director to support the hospital's strategic directions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field; preference for a master's degree.
  • Membership in a health care regulatory college or equivalent workplace experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with demonstrated healthcare leadership experience preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric clinical practice, team processes, security procedures, professional standards, research activities, and current trends and approaches to treatment and rehabilitation of mental illness.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Mental Health Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, and the Health Care Consent Act.
  • Change management skills to promote change aligned with the hospital's strategic directions.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
