Job Title: Registered Occupational Therapist Position
Job Summary:
The Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating Occupational Therapy services for assigned patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Treatment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' functional independence and occupational performance issues, utilizing standardized and non-standardized assessment tools.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with patients, healthcare teams, and community partners to develop and implement recovery plans of care, communicate progress, and address specific concerns.
- Treatment Strategies: Develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic treatment strategies, crisis management plans, and document assessment results, client progress, and clinical summaries according to COTO and Waypoint standards.
- Liaison and Promotion: Liaise with community agencies and facilities to meet patients' needs, provide health teaching, and promote community-based programs and services.
- Treatment Modalities: Develop and facilitate different treatment modalities, including group and individual therapies, such as CBT, DBT, and other evidence-based approaches.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Registration: Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario in good standing.
- Mental Health Experience: Recent mental health experience, including familiarity with the recovery philosophy and trauma-informed care.
- Therapeutic Experience: Experience developing and leading therapeutic groups and providing individual therapies, such as CBT and DBT.
- Theoretical Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of theories and best practices related to mental health illness and addiction.
- Results-Oriented: Proven results-oriented work ethic, ability to work independently, and achieve quality, consistent, and timely results.
- Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated leadership, analytical thinking, conflict resolution, interpersonal, and organizational skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in French and English language skills.
