Job Description

Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC) is seeking a highly skilled Economic Analyst to join our Market Intelligence team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough and accurate analysis, forecasts, reports, and recommendations to support EFC's operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Market Research and Analysis: Interpret information and data sets to assess current market trends, and contribute to the development and improvement of data, environmental scanning, analysis, forecasting, and reporting to assess relevant industry trends in Canada, the US, and internationally.
  • Economic Forecasting: Build and improve economic forecasting models for egg production, demand, and prices by using econometric models and machine learning techniques.
  • Project Management: Work closely with the EFC team and stakeholders on existing programs and projects, and assist in the development, execution, and administration of new programs and projects as directed by the Manager.
  • Quality Control and Training: Ensure quality control of the Market Intelligence unit's regular reports and presentations, and train new unit staff in terms of the unit's business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, R, STATA or a related software), MS Excel (pivot tables and advanced formulas), and preferably Tableau.
  • Proficient statistical and mathematical skills, including methodologies and techniques (e.g., advanced regression analysis, ARIMA models, Monte Carlo simulations, etc.) and the ability to prepare estimates and forecasts using econometric models and machine learning techniques.
  • Master's degree in economics or statistics with a concentration in statistical/quantitative methods, and mathematical modeling.
  • Bachelor's degree in economics or any other related discipline.
