Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Physician to join our team at Fraser Health. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a team-based environment, working collaboratively with our medical staff to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in patient rounds and contribute to the development of treatment plans under the supervision of the attending physician.
  • Assess patient care needs and provide medical orders, consultations, and responses to changing patient conditions in consultation with the attending physician.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in response to changing patient conditions, following through on investigations in consultation with the attending physician.
  • Perform medical surgical consultations for in-patients and patients referred to the emergency room (ER) in consultation with the attending physician.
  • Document patient information, including admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and medication reconciliations, in accordance with CPSBC and organizational standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and other consulting services concerning care plans as appropriate.
  • Perform procedures within the scope of demonstrated competence, including removing drains, placing and removing NG tubes, wound debridement, and drainage of superficial abscesses.
Requirements
  • Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
  • Minimum of two years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist, verified by the CPSBC.
  • Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs).
  • Meet the CPSBC's English language proficiency requirements.
  • Eligible for registration with the CPSBC in the Associate Physician class, under sponsorship by Fraser Health Authority.
  • Valid Canadian Citizenship, be a permanent resident or be legally able to live and work in British Columbia.

  • Ability to recognize medical instability and address initial priorities of resuscitation.
  • Ability to judge situations where discussion and reporting to senior and most responsible physicians is appropriate.
  • Computer and written communication skills, including order entry, clinical documentation, and ability to review relevant diagnostic information and health history.
  • Ability and comfort in working in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to carry out professional duties in the face of multiple, competing demands.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with other health professionals and disciplines.
