We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team at Dalhousie University. As a key member of our Information Security team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of our cybersecurity strategies and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Information Security Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and identify potential security threats to our systems and data. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate these risks and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information assets.
- Security Consulting: Provide expert advice and guidance to university departments and faculty members on information security best practices and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures.
- Incident Response: Respond to and manage cybersecurity incidents, including data breaches and system compromises. Collaborate with IT teams and other stakeholders to contain and resolve incidents.
- Security Awareness and Training: Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for university staff and faculty. Educate them on cybersecurity best practices and the importance of information security in their daily work.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure that our information security practices and procedures are in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer and other stakeholders to develop and implement information security policies and procedures.
- Education: University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in information security, with a focus on risk management, security consulting, and incident response.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices, including risk management, threat analysis, and incident response. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
