Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Cheese Manufacturing Specialist will play a pivotal role in providing expert guidance and technical assistance in process and product innovation, formula enhancement, operational implementation, cost efficiency strategies, yield maximization, and ongoing improvement assessments.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a blend of initiative, specialized expertise, and a passion for learning. This position is perfect for individuals eager to expand their knowledge and advance their careers within our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical authority in cheese production for various internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical assistance in cheese manufacturing, identifying and resolving product or production challenges.
- Enhance cheese products, processes, and formulations.
- Assess and adopt new industrial technologies and cheese production methodologies.
- Contribute to the establishment of financial objectives and cost-saving initiatives for the plant.
- Develop innovative cheese products.
- Effectively communicate results to diverse audiences, including operations, quality assurance, marketing, and sales.
- Transfer acquired knowledge to cheese makers to ensure proper implementation and maintenance of cheese formulations and production processes.
- For qualifying projects, ensure the completion of necessary documentation for the SR&ED program (research tax credit).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in food technology, food engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced degree (M.Sc or Ph.D), particularly in the dairy sector, is advantageous.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a dairy processing environment, with a focus on cheese production.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and intellectually curious individual.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to influence.
- Collaborative team player.
- Analytical thinker with creative problem-solving abilities.
- Proven capability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required, especially in Quebec, due to the geographical distribution of teams and clients.
- Willingness to travel across Canada (approximately 20% of the time).
