About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Upholsterer to join our team at BM Finishing and Upholstery Inc. As an Upholsterer, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, custom upholstery for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Consultation: Discuss upholstery fabric, colour and style with customers to ensure their vision is brought to life.
  • Cost Estimation: Provide accurate cost estimates for upholstering furniture or other items, taking into account materials and labour costs.
  • Furniture Repair: Replace worn-out webbing, springs and other furniture parts to restore furniture to its original condition.
  • Upholstery Creation: Lay out, cut, fabricate and install upholstery to create custom, high-quality pieces.
  • Trim and Embellishment: Tack, glue or sew ornamental trim, braids or buttons to add a touch of elegance to our clients' furniture.
  • Furniture Refinishing: Repair furniture frames and refinish wood surfaces to restore their original beauty.
  • Sewing and Fabrication: Operate sewing machines or sew by hand to create custom upholstery and other fabrications.
  • Finishing Touches: Garnish the bottom and the back of a seat with interoven rattan to add a touch of sophistication.
Work Environment and Requirements
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure our clients receive exceptional quality.
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Possess good hand-eye coordination to perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
  • Work Term: This is a permanent position, offering a stable and secure work environment.
  • Work Language: English is the primary language spoken in the workplace.
  • Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, providing a healthy work-life balance.
