About the Role

Aecon Concessions is seeking a highly skilled Project Controls Analyst to join our team. As a Project Controls Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects by providing expert project cost control and management support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project cost control systems, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of project performance.
  • Collaborate with project teams to establish project baselines, budgets, and cost codes.
  • Monitor project performance, identifying and addressing any deviations from planned schedules and budgets.
  • Train project teams on change management procedures and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Provide regular project controls summary reports and analyses to Aecon management.
  • Review project contracts to ensure compliance with invoicing, reporting, and other contractual requirements.
  • Participate in setting up and controlling project structures, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS).
  • Coordinate with estimating and site teams to ensure seamless project controls implementation.
  • Monitor change management systems on site, ensuring project staff understands the system and its application.
  • Ensure project site staff and crew understand project cost code structures and accurately charge expended hours to the correct codes.
  • Review and analyze project controls reports, suggesting corrective actions to maintain expected performance and productivity.
  • Review and analyze project scheduling and cost reports, suggesting corrective actions to maintain projects within planned cost and schedule.
  • Prepare and update project cash flows as required throughout the project life cycle.
  • Supervise and mentor developing Project Controls Analysts.
  • Assist project managers in preparing project monthly reports and forecasting.
  • Assist project schedulers and teams in preparing, reviewing, and maintaining project schedules.
Requirements
  • Good knowledge of Earned Value principles.
  • Experience in data analytics tools, including MS Excel, Power Query, SAP, and Power Platform.
  • Experience in automating data flow and setting up data pipelines is an asset.
  • Knowledge/experience in using SQL and Python is an asset.
  • Experience developing dashboards, KPIs, and analytics in support of business operational excellence.
  • Ability to read schedules and scheduling curves/reports.
  • Between two and three years of related experience.
  • Good knowledge of cost engineering/cost control.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
  • Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
  • Detail-oriented and customer-focused.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hydro and Utilities experience is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education - Bachelor of Science (Engineering discipline) or C.E.T.; Bachelor of Commerce.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and open to travel.
