Manager, Assurance and Accounting, Indigenous Services

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Assurance and Accounting to join our Indigenous Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the planning, scheduling, and execution of audits, compliance tax engagements, budgeting, internal controls, and financial/accounting transactions with Indigenous communities and enterprises.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles, as well as proven people management, relationship building, and leadership skills. Experience working with Indigenous communities or enterprises is an asset.

As a Manager, Assurance and Accounting, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality audit and assurance services to our clients, while also mentoring and motivating team members towards professional and personal growth. You will also be required to maintain flexibility to travel to engage with clients in-person.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of audits, compliance tax engagements, budgeting, internal controls, and financial/accounting transactions with Indigenous communities and enterprises.
  • Deliver high-quality audit and assurance services to clients through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, understanding their business, key risks, and ways to deliver added value, ensuring clients' needs are met and relationships and accounts grow and develop.
  • Maintain quality control using specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify, and address issues relevant to the client's business, financial entries, and reports.
  • Create connections within the Indigenous community, developing business development opportunities and preparing compelling proposals to meet client needs.
  • Mentor, motivate, and inspire team members towards professional and personal growth through clear guidance, constructive feedback, and impactful performance reviews.
  • Maintain flexibility to travel to engage with clients in-person.
Requirements
  • CPA designation.
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant public accounting experience.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or enterprises an asset.
  • Strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.
  • Proven people management, relationship building, and leadership skills.
