Position Overview

The Crime Review Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of police investigative files. This position is essential for maintaining compliance with the standards set by the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics (CCJS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Statistics Reporting:
    • Act as a subject matter expert in Operational Statistical Reporting (OSR) and Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR).
    • Conduct thorough reviews of police investigative files to extract necessary statistical data for CCJS reporting.
    • Analyze information, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Audit operational files to ensure adherence to legal and policy requirements.
    • Identify potential issues that could impact the integrity of the RCMP and suggest appropriate solutions.
  • Training and Development:
    • Provide coaching to RCMP cadets on quality assurance practices.
    • Assist in identifying training needs and develop relevant educational materials.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess a strong understanding of Operational Statistical Reporting (OSR), Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR), and relevant legal frameworks. Experience in law enforcement and familiarity with RCMP policies is essential.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver engaging presentations.
  • Demonstrated initiative and capacity to work independently while being a collaborative team member.
