Your Role:

The Community Support Assistant is responsible for delivering personal care and assistance to clients within a community environment. Tasks are assigned based on a pre-established care plan, developed in partnership with the client, their family, and the interdisciplinary team members. The Community Support Assistant operates under the supervision of a licensed health professional and may carry out specific Restricted Activities under designated conditions. Engagement in relevant training sessions, accurate documentation of care-related information, and the provision of care are essential responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver personal assistance and support with daily living activities.
  2. Provide comfort and emotional support to patients (clients, residents) requiring temporary or ongoing assistance.
  3. Collaborate closely with patients, families, and caregivers across various care settings, including home, community, or healthcare facilities.
  4. Contribute to the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care, reflecting the core values and vision of Alberta Health Services.

Essential Qualifications:

Must hold active status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. A confirmation letter as proof of enrollment from the Directory is required. Nursing students currently enrolled in an accredited Alberta nursing program who have completed at least 100 hours of practicum and are either in their first year of practical nursing or second year of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Proof of qualifications must be provided.
