POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager and Corporate Controller, the Manufacturing Financial Controller will oversee the financial operations of our manufacturing facilities. This role is pivotal in providing precise financial insights to the management team and Corporate Finance, encompassing analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and the preparation of financial reports.

The Manufacturing Financial Controller will lead and manage the accounting functions within the plant, ensuring adherence to established accounting principles, practices, and procedures. This includes the preparation of financial statements and reporting to senior management and external stakeholders. Additionally, the Controller will maintain the plant's accounting systems and implement necessary changes as directed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FINANCIAL REPORTING:

  • Oversee accounting operations, including the review and posting of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, daily production entries, and statutory reporting.
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with legal regulations and company policies.
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results for each facility.
  • Collaborate with corporate finance, external auditors, customers, and vendors.
  • Generate and present financial information for periodic reports.
  • Work with internal teams on product pricing, costing, and margin analysis.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
  • Implement and manage internal controls related to financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance on all plant accounting matters, including financial systems and reporting.
  • Set priorities within the accounting team.
  • Assist corporate finance with year-end audits and preparation of audited financial statements.
  • Ensure timely preparation of monthly financial statements for the plant.
  • Present financial reports to various stakeholders.
  • Generate performance reports against budgets.
  • Authorize purchase orders and invoices in collaboration with the plant manager.

COST MANAGEMENT:

  • Maintain comprehensive product costing information for analysis and decision-making.
  • Develop and sustain systems for monitoring costing information by activity, category, and product.
  • Conduct variance analyses for productivity and spending to provide feedback to operational managers.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

  • Collaborate with operations to define, measure, analyze, and enhance processes impacting product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Provide strategic analyses to support improved decision-making.
  • Evaluate capital projects using relevant financial KPIs.
  • Work closely with departmental heads to identify inefficiencies and potential cost-saving initiatives.
  • Review accounts receivable aging monthly and proactively address collection issues.
  • Advise on vendor payments and cash flow management.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise accounting staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA professional accounting designation is essential.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in manufacturing accounting and financial management.
  • Proven management or supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are crucial.
  • Experience with external audits is preferred.
  • Background in financial analysis, budgeting, and strategic planning is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and budget preparation techniques is necessary.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel; experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
  • Familiarity with publicly traded companies is beneficial.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to motivate teams are important.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills are required.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills are essential.
  • Willingness to travel between plant facilities as needed.
