Internal Controls Manager

Job Overview
SNDL's Audit & Internal Controls team is expanding to meet the company's growing business needs. This opportunity will provide the successful candidate with a chance to develop their career in an established company within the emerging cannabis industry.
The role will involve supporting the Company's SOX program, assessing risks, and auditing major business processes, financial controls, third-party arrangements, and other special projects to provide assurance to Management and the Board.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Company's SOX program by documenting process narratives, flowcharts, and risk & control matrices, testing and/or reviewing controls, and facilitating remedial changes to tighten and enhance controls.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely delivery of the SOX ICFR audit opinion.
- Provide subject matter expertise on best practices for risk assessment, internal control considerations, and business process optimization to support business partners.
- Conduct operational and financial audits throughout the corporation, develop recommendations for improvement, and prepare draft audit reports for presentation to management.
- Contribute to the success of the Audit & Internal Controls team by building strong business relationships throughout the Company and demonstrating individual initiative and discipline.
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 2 years in business and/or IT assurance.
- Professional designations such as CPA, CIA, and/or CISA are required.
- Big four accounting firm experience is considered an asset.
- Experience with SOX, COSO 2013, and COBIT frameworks is considered an asset.
- Experience with large-scale ERP and HCM systems is considered an asset.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to work within high-performance teams and independently.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to liaise with other departments and recommend control and process improvements.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships.
- Superior analytical and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
