Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Ktunaxa Language Revitalization Manager at the Ktunaxa Nation Council. This is a full-time permanent position with full benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement the Language Revitalization Program, ensuring alignment with the priorities and objectives of the Ktunaxa Nation Council.
  • Lead the administrative and supervisory management of staff, work plans, activities, and finances in the area of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with Language and Culture staff at each of the Ktunaxa First Nations and sister organizations to advance the Language Revitalization Program.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other Sectors and Departments within the Ktunaxa Nation Council to ensure effective collaboration and alignment.
  • Ensure adherence to Ktunaxa Nation Council policies and procedures.
  • Advance on Sector work plans and directives, and align with the achievement of the Ktunaxa Vision Statement.
Qualifications
  • Competency with the Ktunaxa language.
  • Excellent understanding of Ktunaxa traditional knowledge and language.
  • Ability to relate to and work well with Elders and Cultural Advisors.
  • Preference will be given to those who:
    • Speak Ktunaxa.
    • Sing Ktunaxa songs.
    • Have a strong understanding of Ktunaxa culture.
    • Have ideas for advancing the Language Revitalization Program.
Education and Experience
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Language Revitalization, Linguistics, Leadership, or a related discipline.
  • Five (5) years of management experience.
  • Significant experience engaging with citizens/communities in a First Nations environment.
Work Conditions

This is an in-person position working primarily from the Cranbrook office.
