Unit Clerk, Ambulatory Care Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Unit Clerk to join our Ambulatory Care team at BC Women's Hospital. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a receptionist, greeting patients and visitors, and directing them to the appropriate areas.
- Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits using a computerized system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare and check patient charts, ensuring all relevant information is included and up-to-date.
- Transcribe physicians' orders and update patient demographic data in the computerized patient information system.
- Compile statistical data and reports, using electronic software to gather and analyze information.
- Perform other clerical duties, such as operating a facsimile and/or photocopier, and preparing supplies and stationery orders.
Requirements
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from an approved Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively and physically able to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard 40 wpm and operate related equipment.
