POSITION SUMMARY:

As the lead for our manufacturing and machine shop operations, you will be instrumental in managing the full spectrum of our production activities. This encompasses assembly processes, CNC programming and setup, metalworking, and mechanical design. Your role will involve overseeing a diverse team of workers, apprentices, and skilled tradespeople on various projects, ensuring their tasks are executed efficiently while adhering to safety regulations and project timelines. Your primary focus will be to guarantee the seamless operation of fabrication and assembly workflows while upholding the highest quality benchmarks.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

The ideal candidate possesses a robust background in CNC machining, particularly within a custom job shop setting. Familiarity with welding techniques and principles of metal fabrication is essential. A strong grasp of profitability principles and the impact of job organization and efficiency on this is also critical. In terms of leadership, the candidate should be adept at delegating tasks effectively and nurturing the skill development of team members while reinforcing company values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor team members, with success measured by injury prevention, minimal errors during production, employee skill enhancement, and overall project profitability.
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machinery.
  • Create parts using Fusion 360 (3D Modeling) for team production.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of metal fabrication processes and associated quality standards, including MIG and TIG welding, fitting, and bending with hydraulic press brakes.
  • Guide and direct assembly crews on various conveyor systems.
  • Understand mechanical systems thoroughly.
  • Utilize Solidworks and basic engineering principles effectively.
  • Engage with customers for site measurements, job quotations, and order management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage ongoing shop projects and allocate manpower efficiently.
  • Meet deadlines and budget constraints, with a strong understanding of how these factors influence project management.
  • Familiarity with purchasing practices and vendor follow-up.
  • Provide safety guidance to all team members, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Trade certification is an asset.
  • Training in Lift Truck operation, WHMIS, and Fall Arrest is advantageous.
  • First Aid Certification.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Safety and punctuality are imperative.
  • Proven time management and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in supervising employees.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma/Certificate.
  • Preferred: Red seal certification trade license in Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Access to benefits following successful completion of a probationary period.
